Economics has largely been considered an elitist subject, which has no relevance to real life, and con not be understood or explained in everyday language. We beg to differ. Not only do we believe that we can explain economics in simple terms, but also we have to do so. Economics is far more relevant to everyone’s life that we all have to understand it to conduct our economic affairs in a more educated manner. To this end, we take the challenge of discussing economic issues in a language, which is easily communicated to general public. In these pages, faculty from Economics Department at the American University of Sharjah will write concise, but clear opinion articles on issues of importance to a wider audience. They will appear in these pages once a month.
We will also entertain the publication of guest writers’ articles for as long as they are topical, free from too specific jargon and not over 1,500 words. If you wish your article to be considered for posting, please email it to Ismail H. Genc at igenc@aus.edu. We would recommend you keep a copy of the article for your records as we will not be able to return the copy we receive back to you. We promise a speedy evaluation process, which will be professional and amicable.
Please do make sure you let us know what you think of our opinion pieces. Kindly email your comments/questions/concerns to Ismail H. Genc at igenc@aus.edu.
